As the originator of after-market Range Rover enhancements, our pedigree can be traced back to the mid-1970s, when the first Range Rover upgrades were created.
Since launch, we have remained dedicated to the Land Rover marque. Overfinch’s aim has always been to sympathetically enhance the world’s best luxury 4×4 with a continuous R&D programme, top class production facilities and designs that actually improve the vehicle as opposed to just altering it from standard.
This serious, professional approach remains unique in respect of the Range Rover marque.
THE PERFORMANCE RANGE ROVER IS BORN
Under the umbrella of Schuler Ltd (the UK arm of the international automotive supplier – Schuler Presses GmbH) the performance Range Rover is born.
Development commences to improve Range Rover performance using 4 Dellorto carburettors and other external modifications.
Experiments with 4.4 litre Leyland V8 in a Range Rover (Australian version of Rover V8 with new heavy duty engine block from Leyland P76 Saloon).
Paris-Dakar Rally win
A Range Rover entered by Land Rover France equipped with the Schuler/FF gearbox and using components developed in conjunction with Schuler won this famously gruelling event in the face of strong competition. Jaguar V12 LWB Range Rover development mule – high speed chassis testing gives unique insight into vehicle behaviour.
STRANGE ROVER, Project. In conjunction with a rally specialist the world’s 1st mid-engined 4WD rally car was created. Introduction of first Chevrolet engined production vehicles.
The 570 T (Torque) with GM400 automatic gearbox combines performance, refinement and longevity with ease of installation.
Further Research and Development to refine and evolve the GM Chevrolet 5.7 L production vehicles.
Introduction of Touring Fuel Tank and Air Strut Suspension options
Schuler hand over control of the Range Rover division to their UK Managing Director, who changes the name to Overfinch.
Introduction of OVERFINCH 570 S (Sport) with GM700 4 Speed automatic transmission and lock-up torque convertor.
Armoured Range Rover Project – Ministry of Defence commission Overfinch to carry out specialist conversions to 5 armoured examples to improve handling and stability levels on these very heavy vehicles
Further development of the 570 Sport provides a more comprehensive package of enhancements to include braking and a long range fuel tank.
Launch of OVERFINCH 500 E, 500 S. Cost-effective 5.0 litre models achieved by retaining standard gearbox. Land Rover (570E); a 110 Pick-up is fitted with torque optimised 5.7 litre engine, GM700 automatic, Overfinch FF transfer gearbox and Overfinch suspension.Hilarious performance in a utility Defender.
Launch of OVERFINCH 570 S2. Power increased, new Ride and Handling Suspension system plus further refinements.
Fuel injected OVERFINCH 500i and 570 TPi models introduced.Advanced electronic injection systems offering improved economy, performance and driveability. New Precision Steering Conversion (PSC) enhances chassis dynamics.
New Quick-Ratio Steering option revolutionises Range Rover driving characteristics with new standards of responsiveness and high speed security. New OVERFINCH 570 Ti (Torque inject ion) announced.High value performance conversion achieved by interfacing 5.7 litre power with uprated version of original ZF automatic transmission.
STRANGE ROVER Project. A 1971 Rover 3.5 Coupe (P5B) receives full OVERFINCH 570 Ti engine, 4WD chassis and Range Rover running gear to create a stunning high performance hybrid with classic style.

2000 New 630R Anniversary model of the second generation Range Rover celebrates the company’s 25th year in style. Xenon (gas discharge) lighting introduced.
Advanced new Active Ride Technology suspension system (A.R.T.) redefines Range Rover chassis dynamics. BBC’s Top Gear successfully slalom test the car at 50mph, with the standard car unable to complete the course!
Initial work on the new generation Range Rover begins in earnest plus move to new larger facility in Farnham, Surrey. New 12 spoke 20 inch alloy wheel for 2nd and 3rd generation Range Rovers released.
Launch of the Overfinch 580 S to critical acclaim by the motoring press – the first non GM based (i.e. small block, Chevrolet-powered) Overfinch flagship model. This offered a well balanced performance package for owners of the 3rd Generation Range Rover and proved a sales success.
Launch of new Tiger 22 wheels plus further developments of product range for the (BMW engineered) Range Rover. This included extensive work to the interior ambiance plus a 6/7 seater conversion for children.
Overfinch launch the desirable Tiger 22 wheels for the Discovery (LR3). Development commences on the new 2006 model Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with full performance and cosmetic packages in the programme. Overfinch are winners of the Ford ‘Special Recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Design’ Award at the SEMA Show, Las Vegas for the SuperSport body styling package.
The Range Rover modified by Overfinch and Holland & Holland was conceived with a single intention; to create the ultimate all purpose, all season luxury supercar for the discerning few.

London Showroom Opening
A new flagship showroom is opened in February, in the heart of St Johns Wood, London, showcasing the largest Overfinch collection in the UK.
Overfinch announced an exclusive edition of the Defender. The vehicle is a double celebration, marking Overfinch’s significant 40 year milestone and acknowledgment of Land Rover ending production of the iconic Defender.
